This is a telecommute / virtual office position, so you can work from anywhere (and it is assumed you have the hardware, software, and broadband Internet connectivity).
You must be self directed and well organized, as well as passionate about your work. You will need to be able to communicate well through email, IM and on Skype, as you will be working with other team members throughout the US. Your ability to take responsibility for your work and the product is a key factor for success.
Job Requirements:
- Part time or full time position (long term, in either case)
- Must be fluent in English, spoken and written
- Must be available weekly IM or Skype meetings to discuss technical issues and project status
- Must be able to communicate by email and IM clearly and on a daily basis
- Must be capable of discussing design tradeoffs and defending design decisions, not just coding
- Ability to write safe, reliable, clean, and efficient code
- Able to find and use state of the art development tools, toolkits, and other software resources
- Provide examples of past or current work
- Implement clean, understandable, maintainable code (this is in your interest, as you will be maintaining it)
- Experience with the full LAMP stack
- Experience with MySQL and an understanding of database architecture
- Experience with JavaScript/AJAX
- Self driven and highly motivated to work both independently and with a small team.
- Skills
- Must have written web apps with PHP
- Familiar with classes and OO/OB programming
- Project experience designing and implementing client/server APIs
- Experience with PHP optimization techniques
- Experience MVC frameworks such Symfony, CakePHP, Zend
- Knowledge of system programming issues (threading, locking, etc.)
